Governor Kayitesi urges cooperatives to improve performance to build a better world

This Saturday, July 2, 2022, International Day of Cooperatives was celebrated at Muhanga Stadium, in Muhanga District, Southern Province, and the Governor of Southern Province … cooperatives for their contribution to the country development but also, urged them to work harder as the government puts necessary resources to support them.

“Cooperative Policy and Law has been established to promote and regulate cooperatives.

This proves that the government of Rwanda is dedicated to support cooperative movement. So, cooperative members and leaders shall be professional and be led by the values of Rwandans.

We appreciate the role of cooperatives in the development of the country and they are in important development activities in the country. To build a better world as the theme says, we are required to work hard, change the way we do things, and avoid anything that would set back the good step our country has made in this cooperative sector.

I urge all cooperative leaders to be exemplary, to be led by the values of Rwandans, to properly manage the resources of the cooperatives and their members and to avoid anything that would generate despise working in cooperatives”

Finally, Honorable Governor thanked the best performer cooperatives at each Province and the City of Kigali level, and especially 'Abateraninkunga ba Sholi' best performer at the national level, located in Muhanga District, Southern Province.

Therefore, she took the opportunity to remind cooperatives from Southern Province how they are lucky to have RCA headquarters.

“In the Southern Province, we are lucky to have the RCA Headquarters working in our Province, although, they are in charge of the whole country. Their doors are always open, we have no excuses”

The International Day of Cooperatives is celebrated for the 100th time around the world with the theme "Cooperatives build a better world." The day was celebrated at the Muhanga Stadium, after a two year wait due to the Covid 19.
